Members of the right -wing Hindu Raksha on Thursday (July 17, 2025) attacked the KFC output in Ghaziabad and demanded a ban on the sale of not vegetarian food during the Hindu month of Sawan. A similar protest was introduced outside the neighboring outlet of the local chain of Nazir restaurants, which led to the temporary closure of both facilities.
The visuals of the incident spread on social media, which showed that members of clothing carrying the flag of saffron and chanting slogans such as “Jai Shri Ram” and “Har Har Mahadev” while forcibly withdrew the KFC output.
In the video, the group is seen to enter the restaurant, confront employees and demand that the operations are stopped. “All these products should be immediately prohibited, we will not tolerate it in Sawan,” the protesters hear.

The opposition parties in Uttar Prades were criticized by Bharatiya Janata (BJP) and considered it responsible for what they called the worsening of law and order.

Samajwadi also condemned the protest. “If BJP groups or right -wing groups want to sell meat, they should ask the government to close the slaughterhouse and forbid the sale of meat throughout India for one month during Sawan. Half of the slaughterhouses are controlled by BJP.
The incident also launched a debate on social media, with many users criticized the protesters’ actions.
Sawan, also known as Shravana, is considered a Hindu calendar as a holy month, especially the devoted Lord Shiva. Much observes fasting and delaying consumption of meat, alcohol and even onions and garlic during this period. During this time, the Kanwar Yatra, the main pilgrimage, is also performed.
