Towards the end of Fag Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, when one character asks – “Do you feel any logic in this joke?” Obviously, the film is set in the absurd landscape. It is a kind of film in which the father of the protagonist who slipped into a coma would say, “Until now he was a question mark for us now became com (m) and”.
But there are little and far between the jokes that are soil, because even absurd humor requires a feeling of timing and rhythm to work. Instead, we get a number of frights that interrupt the scenario without meaning for the direction, as well as the protagonist Eby (Fahadh Faasil). We are pulled into his life Night before his wedding when his fiancee Nidhi (Kalyani Priyadarshan) expresses his wishes. In an effort to fulfill the same thing, EBY ends up faces a crisis.
Althaf Salim, who had an impressive debut with Njandukalude Nattil Oriadavel, in which he mined humor from the morbid situation, seems to be sick in his second trip. In Odum Kuthira … he also tries to try funny treatment of a difficult situation. The characters try to deal with the moves that their minds take. Nidhi lives completely in the land of his dreams, while EBY is in the handle of a recurring dream, and his father often thinks of suicide to be with his dead wife.

Somewhere in the middle of a confused narrative you can feel an initial vision that uses humor to display a depressed state of mind. It is an admirable effort, but is full of risks. Unfortunately, almost everything that could spoil in such an attempt went wrong here. In the middle of the film, it branches into another story about Foodie (Revathi Pilli), who is trying to meet the requirements of her friend to lose weight. This secondary story, which has only a slight connection with Eby’s, gets to the center of attention for a while without really adding anything to the film.

The pure aim of the narrative forces us to wonder if it is an attempt to give us a feeling of eby mind, but the answer is obvious – the scenario is too confused. Some of the clearly written dialogue lines, with the exception of several truly funny lines, are further evidence of this fact. This is also one of those rare cases where Fahadh Faasil is trying to influence.
The creators might try to create an unpredictable film about people who are engaged in their minds, but Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira ends in the land of any man. It’s not very fun to be there.
