Revanth Reddy calls on the Vaishya community to secure a political stake

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged the Arya Vaishya community to remain united and secure their due share in politics, saying collective strength is necessary to gain more respect and representation.

Speaking at a meeting of the Arya Vaishya community on Sunday (September 13, 2026), Revanth Reddy said the members of the community are known for their gentle nature, self-respect and foresight. Although many Arya Vaishyas were economically disadvantaged, they preferred to live with dignity rather than seek recognition as a backward or poor community, he said.

Revanth Reddy recalled the contributions of former Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah, especially his role as the Finance Minister during the formation of Telangana. He said Telangana was formed on June 2, 2014 with a surplus budget of ₹16,000 crore, attributing the financial situation to the stewardship of Mr. Rosaiah, who was given opportunities and recognition by the Congress.

Recalling his association with Mr. Rosaiah, the Chief Minister said the former leader advised him to control his emotions and use his experience to advance in politics when he was known to act aggressively in the Legislative Council. “Rosaiah was the first to recognize me,” he said.

Mr. Reddy said his government had installed a statue of Mr. Rosaiah in the heart of Hyderabad with the intention of preserving his honor and recognizing his bond with the city.

Referring to the community’s contribution to the freedom movement and public life, the Chief Minister described Mahatma Gandhi as the only truly global leader from India, saying that his stature is recognized worldwide. He also remembered the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu, whose fasting and struggle contributed to the creation of Andhra Pradesh.

He promised government assistance for the construction of the Arya Vaishya Atma Gaurava Bhavan. He pointed out that the government had already given a seat in the corporation to an Arya Vaishya representative and a chairman’s post in the village in Kodangal to a member of the community.
