Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was never a real Congress leader and is “basically a BJP man in a Congress mask”.
Addressing an election campaign meeting in Banswada, Mr Rama Rao said the CM is “Bade Bhai’s younger brother”, hinting at his ideological closeness to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom the CM calls “Bade Bhai”. He urged minorities and all who are against communal politics to “remove the BJP mask worn by the CM and recognize the BJP leader hidden within.”
Mr. Rama Rao criticized the Congress’s argument that voters should support it in the municipal elections only because it is in power, terming the claim as “meaningless”. He called on Congress leaders to explain what they had accomplished during their last two years in office.
Promising the return of BRS to power, Mr. Rama Rao said that once his party returns, the cities will develop much better than under the Congress rule, just as it did during the BRS regime. He accused the Congress of deceiving minorities and backward classes by promising large budgetary allocations but not delivering.
Referring to the Congress poll promises, Mr. Rama Rao said only those who actually benefited from schemes like ₹4,000 pension, ₹2,500 women’s aid, education guarantee cards, Rythu Bharosa, Kalyana Lakshmi and tola gold should vote for the Congress.
Mr. Rama Rao also questioned why senior leader Pocharam Srinivas Reddy joined the Congress despite what he described as the party’s inability to fulfill its promises. During the campaign, he played audio and video clips from previous assembly elections in which Mr. Revanth Reddy allegedly made derogatory remarks against Mr. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and his sons.
