Union Minister and BJP State President G. Kishan Reddy has questioned the inaction against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in the alleged Kaleshwaram project irregularities, despite repeated assurances from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Reacting to the series of allegations against him by the Chief Minister, at a press conference here, he wondered why he was being blamed when the Congress was in power with all the powers to take action against Mr. Chandrashekar Rao. He sought to clarify whether the Congress High Command was blocking the action.

Mr Kishan Reddy said that despite completing more than two years in office and facing multiple elections, the Congress government has failed to deliver on its assurances, including the much-hyped six guarantees and hundreds of sub-promises made ahead of the 2023 assembly polls.

He accused the chief minister of deliberately avoiding discussing the status of promises and resorting to diversionary politics to cover up administrative failures, corruption and internal conflicts within the cabinet over projects and contracts.

Ending religion-based reservations as unconstitutional, the Union minister alleged that the Congress had made appeasement of AIMIM a political strategy before every election. He said the proposal for a permanent 4% Muslim reservation was purely electoral politics and recalled that similar attempts had been struck down by the Supreme Court in the past.

The Union minister noted that both the Congress and the BRS lacked the courage to govern independently and argued that the AIMIM continued to wield decisive influence regardless of which party was in power.

He raised the alarm over a fire accident at the State Forensic Science Laboratory and demanded an official statement from the government on the safety of important digital and forensic evidence related to several high-profile cases.
