Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who campaigned in Kerala as the Congress party’s star campaigner, launched a scathing attack on both the BJP and the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), claiming that “voting for the LDF is like voting for the BJP”.
Addressing several rallies in Nemom and surrounding constituencies in Kerala on Wednesday, he alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan were involved in a “secret pact” but publicly expressed conflicting ideologies.
During a roadshow in Poonthura in support of United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate KS Sabarinadhan, Mr Reddy alleged that the Congress-led UDF had “drawn Lakshman Rekha” to prevent the BJP and RSS from gaining ground in Kerala.
He criticized the Vijayan government for being “silent” even as several national development works, including key highway projects, stalled. Urging voters to “teach a lesson” to both the BJP and the LDF, he accused the Center of misusing agencies like the ED and the CBI, alleging that CPI (M) leaders were left untouched because of political deals.
The Telangana CM also appreciated Kerala’s achievements in literacy, education and social progress and credited former Congress chief ministers for these achievements.
Taking aim at both the Modi and Vijayan governments, he described the last decade as a period of “double failure”, pointing to rising unemployment and limited industrial growth.
Comparing it with the development trajectory of Telangana, he expressed confidence that Kerala too would progress under the Congress government. He said he was confident of a strong victory for the UDF in the upcoming assembly elections.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy also participated in the campaign.
