Revanth accuses opposition of stalling development, lays foundation for fruit market, sub-registration office complex in Koheda

HYDERABAD

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday reiterated his government’s commitment to drive major development projects such as Bharat Future City, while criticizing opposition parties for their alleged attempts to stall key initiatives.

At a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of an integrated fruit market and an integrated Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) complex at Koheda on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Mr Reddy said the Bharat Future City project was planned in response to environmental concerns caused by the pharmaceutical industry in the surrounding areas.

“We will bring 500 of the world’s most renowned companies to Future City,” he said.

Mr. Reddy accused BRS leaders of spreading “lies” that major projects like the Regional Ring Road (RRR), Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) and the Tummidihatti project would not materialise.

“If they continue with such fake campaigns, there will be no room for the opposition in the future,” he said, adding that attempts to resist development will weaken the democratic discourse.

Emphasizing the importance of strengthening agricultural infrastructure around Hyderabad, he said, “While real estate has expanded rapidly, agriculture has stagnated. With a population of over 1.3 million, Hyderabad has grown into an international city, but we are struggling to meet its food requirements.”

“In the past, temporary shelters have collapsed during storms, causing severe injuries to farmers. I had promised then that we would build an international fruit market,” the CM said.

The integrated fruit market at Koheda will be developed over an area of about 239 acres.

Mr. Reddy also announced plans to promote crop diversification, noting that farmers are currently focusing on paddy, maize, cotton and chillies. “We even buy vegetables like coriander from neighboring states. Every fruit and vegetable should be grown in our region,” he said, announcing that a tomato processing unit would be set up in Kandukuru.

Highlighting the shortcomings in the existing registration system, the Chief Minister said that the sub-registrar offices lacked basic facilities despite generating substantial revenue.

“Registrations bring in nearly ₹15,000 crore annually, but there is no proper infrastructure. We are addressing this by developing integrated complexes,” he said, adding, “Development will not stop. We will continue to build infrastructure, support farmers and implement welfare schemes.”

Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu and others attended the event.
