Dozens of retired police officers were felicitated during Police Flag Day celebrations organized at various places in Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Uttara Kannada and Davangere districts on Thursday.
Retired Sub-Inspector of Police D. Chamundeshwari, while celebrating the Police Flag Day at the DAR (District Armed Reserve Police) parade in Dharwad, said on Thursday that the police department is a symbol of sacrifice, discipline and time management.
“Police dignity increases the discipline, social commitment and punctuality of the police force,” she said.
She said if the workers remember and follow the lessons, rules and values they learned upon joining the department throughout their service until retirement, their service will be meaningful and fulfilling.

She emphasized the need to create a work environment in all police offices and stations that promotes adaptability, efficiency and compassion.
Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya presented a report on the social welfare activities of the police.
Several former police officials and persons were blessed on the occasion.
During the Police Flag Day celebrations at the Old CAR Parade Ground in Hubballi, former Superintendent of Police MA Pathan emphasized the need for police personnel to maintain a good relationship with the society and listen patiently to the complainants when approached.
Swarnaa Group of Companies CEO VSV Prasad said the company should be indebted to the policemen as they have dedicated their lives to maintaining law and order in the society.
Former police officer Ravikumar Naik has appealed to people to contribute generously to the Police Welfare Fund.
Commissioner of Police N. Shashikumar spoke about the social welfare activities of the police and appreciated the police personnel for their selfless service in protecting the interests of the public.
He emphasized the need for police officers to perform their duties transparently and properly understand their responsibilities.
Police flags were symbolically hoisted on this occasion.
Mr. Prasad donated ₹ 1,11,600, Shantharaj Pol donated ₹ 1 lakh and former Deputy Superintendent of Police Viresh Belavadi and Vithal Ladwa donated ₹ 50,000 each to the Police Welfare Fund.
RSI Parade Commander Santosh Bhojappagol led the procession. CR Deputy Commissioner of Police Raveesh and Shruti NS, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivanand Chalavadi and others were present.
