On Thursday (November 13), police said they were working on the case and had met Mr Hooda in this regard. “Yes, we have met him and we are working on it,” Harmandeep Singh Hans, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for SAS Nagar, told The Hindu while responding to questions about the current status of the case and the identification of the vehicle involved.
Mr Hooda confirmed that the police had met him. “I have given the time and place of the incident, so they should be able to identify. Obviously, identification should not take that long. I am sure they would have known by now. I have asked them to share the action they have taken. I will wait for their reply. I hope they will come back as soon as possible,” Mr Hooda told The Hindu.
Meanwhile, DGP Yadav pointed out the policy of zero tolerance towards misbehavior and said that the duty of Punjab Police is not only to protect vulnerable persons but also to promote public dignity, safety and confidence on the roads. “VIP protection is a highly responsible task that requires discipline, patience and respect for citizens. A strong security apparatus and respectful behavior must go hand in hand,” he said.
The DGP has issued instructions to all concerned police personnel for immediate compliance, which includes following traffic rules and regulations during non-emergency movements, facilitating smooth movement ensuring minimum disruption to public traffic and professional behavior with courtesy to be maintained throughout the journey with the protected.
