West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is leading by at least 100 more seats than official trends suggest. She claimed that the actual numbers were much higher than reported. She said it was part of BJP’s plan to hide the real numbers.
Mamata Banerjee has sent a strong message to all Trinamool Congress workers. She asked everyone to “wait and watch.” Her party would emerge victorious after sunset, she claimed.
Mamata Banerjee’s message
“Greetings everyone. I am asking all census agents and party candidates, please do not leave the census centers or the strong rooms where the census is taking place. Do not exit under any circumstances.”
This is part of BJP’s plan. I’ve been saying since yesterday that in the first two to three rounds, their votes will be shown first, and ours only later. In many places, the process was stopped at nearly 100 places after two or three rounds of counting.”
Wait and watch. We will fight like tigers.
“In Kolaghat, seven machines are said to have failed and there is no match. This is utter manipulation. They are trying to create chaos in the counting centres, targeting Trinamool Congress, destroying offices, taking control by force, threatening SIR’s name and even trying to manipulate votes.”
Despite this, according to her, there are about 100 other places where we lead, but they do not declare themselves. The government selectively feeds the news, she argued. Previously, updates came through the District Initial Counting Unit (DICU), but that has changed since yesterday, she said.
“The government and the Election Commission are acting arbitrarily with the support of central forces while our local police work under their guidance.
So I call on all our enumeration agents and party workers not to lose heart. I’ve said it before, after a few rounds you’ll see the results turn in our favor. The count goes up to 14-18 laps and then we win.
Wait and watch. We will fight like tigers.”
