Launched under the Meenachilar-Meenantharayar-Kodoorar Rejuvenation Scheme, the project aims to develop the surrounding areas of E-Block in Kottayam municipality, J-Block in Thiruvaarp panchayat and fields in Thiruvaikkari into four meter wide canals. The work will use the sludge deposited at Pazhukkanilkkayal to promote the development and improvement of these areas.
An official statement added that work to strengthen river banks at erosion-prone places using CSR funds from various companies is progressing successfully in Vettikkad area of Thiruvaarp panchayat. The contractor receives funds directly from the sponsoring companies, which ensures a smooth implementation.
