Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavascar urged India to plan ahead for her Asia Cup Super 4 campaign, suggesting that Pacehead Jasprit Bumrah should be rested not only for the final clash of the group against Oman.
When he spoke to the transmitter, Gavascar stressed that Oman game offers India the opportunity to make a small adjustment of their assembly. It could allow the team to test the power of the bench and at the same time giving key doughs like Sanju Samson, Tilak Verma and even Hardik Pandy some precious time in the fold, which missed the tournament in India. Gavascar also pointed out that Bumrah rest would help keep the bowler fresh for the more demanding super 4 matches.
“I would like to think that India would consider launching first and keep the same opening couple. Maybe number three, Suryakumar Yadav, captain, could fall down and give Tilak a chance for a while to fold and allow Sanja Samson a little intervention,” Gavascar said.
“It would have been pasting some training not only for the game against Pakistan, but also for the upcoming Super 4 matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It’s more about dough preparation than pitching,” he added.
“I believe Jasprit Bumrah should be rested, maybe even for Pakistan, so he is available for a bigger match on Sunday, 28., which is against Sri Lanka. That’s what India should look at.
India has already secured the highest place in its group with victories over SAE and Pakistan, which makes Oman’s accessories an ideal chance of turning players. Bumrah, which was in excellent form, claimed two for 28 against Pakistan and now sits as the fourth highest goal in the T20is, with 92 goals in 72 matches on average 17.67 and the economy of 6.29.
Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana are expected to fill the Bumraho place in the XI game. For Arshdeep, the game has another meaning because it only needs one goal to become the eighth Indian pitch to reach 100 T20i goal. Their integration would not only strengthen the Indian bowling attack, but also gave a major practice of the match for the upcoming Super 4 phase.
The Omani match will also allow Indian doughs to get more time in the middle. The dominant victory against Sae and Pakistan meant that top and middle -order players had limited opportunities for the bat. Gavascar emphasized the importance of using the game to prepare for a stricter competition against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The possibilities of rotation were also in the form, with the three Kuldeep Yadav is three against Pakistan, which moved it around Axar Patel and Ravicandran Ashwin to the sixth place on the Indian T20i goal list. His contribution gives India depth when they go to the difficult stage of the tournament.
