On Tuesday, two bridges were opened at a high level across the Thurinjal River, the tributary of the then Pennai Greeks in the Truvannamei district, and brought the relief to hundreds of motorists.
Officials of state motorways who performed work said the new bridge on a high level connects the villages of Veraiyur and Thandarai. It replaces an existing dilapidated toy that was built at the age of 70, but was seriously damaged during the 2021 flood. “Before the new bridge was built, we had to carry a stick to cross the river to reach the government hospital in Tiruvannamalai, the nearest city about 15 km away, for treatment. During the monsoon we take at least 15 km in tractors to get to the hospital,” said R. Sevanthi.

Accompanied by a representative of the lecturer of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu, K. Pitchandi and collector K. Tharpagaraj, Minister of Public Work and Motorway EV Velu inaugurated new bridges.
“The new bridges were long -term inhabitants of the population, including students and farmers. They were also laid access to facilitating free flow across the river,” said Kr Outsecut, auxiliary divisional engineer (ADE), state highways (Tiruvannamalai), Hindus.
According to a highway department study, more than 12,000 vehicles use a damaged toy across the river, which risked their lives, especially during rainy. Funded within the NABARD XXVIII 2023-24 system, the two-lane Crore bridge 6.17 Crore is 60 meters long and 12 meters wide with at least 50 LED street lights on the bridge and its service stripes. The tiled trails with steel railing will also be provided.
Similarly, the new Crore bridge of 6.70 GBP between SU Valavetti and Valávaryi Village near Tiruvannamei across the river is 80 meters long and 11.65 meters wide. Both bridges were built about five meters from the bed of the river to prevent the equipment from flooding during the monsoon.
These new bridges will help residents at least 20 surrounding villages. The two -lane facility will help to introduce bus services to these villages from Truvannamai, the nearest bus warehouse. Ambulances can also achieve these villages using a new device.
