Farmers recently staged a protest at the Bhogapuram Mandal Parishad Office, against the acquisition of land for the project. The government has only 25 acres of land and the remaining 830 acres need to be acquired from private owners. The government offered compensation under the Land Acquisition Act. In this regard, the Collector spoke to The Hindu and said that the interests of the farmers will be fully protected as per the rules and regulations.
“We need nearly 855 acres of land in Polipalli and Bhogapuram, on the east and west sides. Fortunately, there is cooperation from most of the farmers as they would get decent compensation. A few farmers have approached the court. We hope they will understand the importance of the project and extend their support to the district administration,” he said. The collector urged the locals not to be fooled by vested interests as the project was meant to benefit future generations.
According to sources, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) will invest around ₹ 1.08 crore in a gigawatt-scale artificial intelligence data center cluster at Bhogapuram, where the GMR group recently built a new international airport.
