No DGP acting concept
The Top Court also ordered that “none of the states will ever exceed the idea of appointing any person on post DGP on the basis of negotiations because there is no concept of DGP conduct according to the decision in the case of Prakash Singh.”
While the leaders had no idea why the state did not send a proposal for the UPSC three months before the vacancy (31 August 2025), the sources at the Police headquarters said that the file would be sent in a day or two.
The state responded to the appointment of DGP in accordance with the Supreme Court’s order and instructions for the Ministry of the Interior, the state recently informed Madurai the bench of the Madras High Court on which this process was about.
Seniority order
Seema Agrawal, Rajeev Kumar and Sandeep Rai Rathhore are expected to find a place in the panel of three officers of the UPSC emphance. DGP-rank officers who are next are K. Vannia Perumal, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, G. Venkatman, Vinit Dev WankHede and Sanjay Mathur. The DGPS spring Kumar and Abhay Kumar Singh may not be considered because they are less than six months left.
Although there are rumors that Mr. Venkatraman, now working as DGP (administration), may be provided with an additional DGP/HOPF fee, police sources have stated that the government can also choose an officer among the highest than the highest to name the highest place.
