
The regional chapter of Mysuru Indian Home Science Association was inaugurated here on Friday.
The chapter will work from the Ministry of Food and Nutrition at the University of Mysore. The authorities stated that this would increase academic cooperation, community involvement and professional development in the field of domestic science.
M. Komal, President, HSAI – MRC, Mysuru, said that home science was an interdisciplinary entity including areas such as food science and nutrition, human development and family study, textiles and design of clothing, resource and education management and expansion communication.
The integration of knowledge from various disciplines bends scientific and artistic elements and focuses on the authorization of individuals by passing knowledge and skills for personal and professional use, she added.
The Komala said the Indian Association for Home Sciences was founded in the 40th century at the University of Maharaja Sayairao in Vadodar and the University of Mysore and HSAI recently signed a memorandum of understanding to support education, research and community terrain in the field of domestic science.
NK Lokanath, Vice -Chairman of the University of Mysore, started this chapter here. On this occasion, a revised edition of the book “Food and Nutrition Manual” was published. The book has edited Jamuna Prakash and includes current research, food indices and national policy and nutritional programs, said prof. Komala.
