Netizens wanted the assurance that tax cuts would be transferred to consumers.

“August 15, Prime Minister spoke of growing obesity in India. Today, at the GST meeting, there was a meeting of GST Council, such as Mr. Masala, Gutka, and corbonated beverages, moved to 40% tax, while healthy foods like a Panece do not have #gst.

Netizens also shared its views on changing the tax rate on specific items.
“Slashing GST on hotels and gym on bare at least 5%, PM modi Govt sends signals to Indians of middle class to practice and travel more,” the user said.
The angry user said, “Another hypocritical and corrupt BJP move !! So now the Indians watching the IPL match at the stadium will have to pay 40% of the GST instead of earlier 28%, but BCCi, which earns 1000s Crores from IPL & tickets, will not even pay tax.

Several users welcomed the opposition for allowing the reform, and said, “This GST reform would never have happened if Modi won more than 400 seats in parliament elections.
“No income tax up to 12l and now lower GST without GST on life and health insurance. 240 seats did it a year, 282 and 303 seats could not do in 10 years,” he added.

1) Individual life and health insurance – attract zero GST from 18%.
2) Ultra -high temperature, Mr. Pan, Paratha, Roti, Pizza Bread, Khakra and Chena are liberated from GST. Butter, ghee, condensed milk, cheese, dry fruit, jams, jelly, confectionery, ice cream, pastries and biscuits, corn flakes and cereals-pilot 5% GST from 12-18%.
3) Fertilizer inputs such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid and ammonia, along with biopesticides and micronutrients-pilot 5% GST from 12-18%.
4) Agricultural equipment, tractors, threshing and soil preparation-packed 5% GST from 12-18%.
5) Small cars (petrol <1200cc, diesel <1500 cc) and motorcycles up to 350 cc - attract 18% GST instead of 28%. GST on EVS remains 5%.
6) Everyday objects such as shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, talc powder, face powder, soap, hair oil, tooth powder, bottles, dishes, wheels, umbrellas and bamboo furniture – attract 5% GST.
7) Cement, automatic components – attract 18% GST 28%.

1) Non-alcoholic beverages, wheels, fruit aerated beverages and all carbonated beverages-packed 40% GST against 28%.
2) Energy drinks and other caffeine drinks – face 40% GST.
3) aerated waters and flavored drinks containing added sugar or sweeteners – face 40% GST.
4) Cars with petrol engines over 1200 cc or diesel engines over 1500 cc and longer than 4,000 mm, along with motorcycles over 350 cc, racing cars, yachts and aircraft for personal use-40% GST.
5) Mr. Masala, Gutkha, cigarettes, chewing tobacco and bidi – to face 40% GST. For the time being, however, they will continue below 28 % of GST Plus compensation until fees are repaid.
