Traveling on crowded trains is often one of the most stressful experiences in India. Passenger scenes and pushing to find space are too common. The recent Reddit contribution has triggered a debate on the lack of the passenger’s civic meaning during the train trip.
Clothing hanging on the upper bed
The contribution called “In Indian railways only” shows what seems to be a general coach where the traveler hung clothes on the stand attached to the upper bed.
“August 15, 2025, around 10:00. Bangalore (SBC) – Jaipur (JP) SuperFast Express (train no. 12975/12976). I didn’t get AC coach, but I managed to have a free laundry,” he said.

Criticism of social media
The picture quickly became viral and social media users criticized passengers.

“Tell him you don’t want to see his underwear on your side,” one user wrote. Another added, “Ohhhh, my God, that’s shocking.” The third remarked: “Many people, even abroad, have problems with a civic sense, but that’s something that happens only in India.”
No first incident
This is not the first time that Indian railway passengers have attracted attention for unusual antiquity. Last year, a viral video showed that the passenger was weaving a cot between two beds using a rope to create a temporary seat.
The clip has triggered a discussion online about challenges of traveling on Indian trains, where sitting is often limited. While some appreciated the creativity for hack, others said it was disrupted by the passengers.
