A Redditor has found a silver lining in the ongoing IndiGo disruption that has resulted in hundreds of flight cancellations over the past four days.
The airline attributed the chaos, which led to more than 550 flight cancellations, to crew shortages, saying it expects to return to normal operations by February 10, 2026. It has also asked for a temporary relaxation of some DGCA rules.
An Indore resident said he had booked an IndiGo flight to Bangkok, Thailand from New Delhi. However, instead of booking a flight for February as planned, the Redditor mistakenly made a reservation for December — a mistake he didn’t realize until the airline canceled the flight.

“So I have a flight on February 5th (midnight) to Bangkok from Delhi and I live in Indore. Last night, I don’t know how it happened but I mistakenly booked the wrong flight from Indore,” the viral post read.
The Indore man said he was supposed to book flights for February 4 to 10 but instead booked them for the same dates in December.
“I didn’t even realize it until 6:30 in the evening when I started getting check-in messages from them on the website because my flight was rescheduled due to the problem Indigo had today,” said the lucky man.
“I was shocked because my flight was rescheduled for ‘logistical reasons’ and now took off from Delhi at 1:00 AM instead of 9:39 AM because it was converted to another flight,” he said, still unaware of the stupidity involved.
A Redditor decided to cancel a 2am flight from Delhi to Bangkok, purely because of the change in scheduled time.
It wasn’t until he opened the portal to cancel the flight that he realized the dates were incorrect – “When I was about to cancel I saw that the hell I booked it for December 4-10 and not February.”

The man stared at the phone screen in disbelief and said, “Agar flight change ni hoti na mjhe pta hi ni chalta (I wouldn’t have noticed if the flight schedule hadn’t changed). I was in my zone ki february ki h reservation.”
Grateful for the major disruption in IndiGo that has stirred up its passengers for the past few days, the Redditor said, “Thank god ki aj indigo ki affected by hogyi flight…”
He noted that if the flights had not been cancelled, he would not have been entitled to a refund as his flight was scheduled within the next 24 hours and the flight must be at least 7 days for a refund.
“Now I could get a full refund because both flights were rescheduled, so naturally they gave me the option to get a full refund or choose another flight,” said the happy man.
However, he stressed that he had to wait 55 minutes for a real person to speak to him.
“Thanks Indigo for screwing it up. Now I’m saved,” said the Redditor.

Netizens Call Redditor ‘God’s Favorite Child’
Social media users cheered the Redditor for getting on the happy side of the IndiGo chaos, calling him ‘god’s favorite child’.
“Bro used all the luck of 2025 on one call,” said one netizen.
Another said: “A broken clock shows the correct time twice a day” type of s**t.
“God’s favorite child,” exclaimed the user.
One user sarcastically said, “Indigo is very sweet.” They added: “One time they gave me my boarding pass at 8 15 for an 8 30 flight because it was about 30 minutes late.”
“You’re lucky, Indigo has barely done anything worthy of recognition!” another user said.
“Chlo, at least it turned out well for someone. For me, this sudden cancellation has destroyed any hope of happiness I had,” said a victim of the IndiGo breach.
