On Tuesday, heavy rain continued in the state, induced by a cyclonic circulation over the Bengal southwest bay.
Piravom in Ernaculam has seen 22 cm precipitation in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 at 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Peeechi in Thrissur (13 cm), Choonds in Ernacula (8 cm), Minicoy and Agatti, both in Lakshadw Velankar in Thrissur in Thrissur.
Strong rainfall is likely to continue one more day.
The Indian Meteorological Department issued a red warning of the Kannur and Karagod districts, where extreme heavy rainfall is likely over the next 24 hours, while Malappuram, Kozhikode and the Wayanad district where very heavy rainfall is likely.
It is then expected that the intensity of the rain is gradually retreating.
