
The deadly blast in Delhi on November 10 shook the nation after 8 people were killed and several others injured near the iconic Red Fort. After the explosion, the conservation area was closed. Lal Quila will remain closed to visitors for three days, till November 13, according to a notification by the Delhi Police on November 11. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to convene a high-level security review meeting at his residence at 11 am.
DGP Jammu and Kashmir will attend this security meeting virtually. The meeting will be attended by Home Minister Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence, Director General of National Investigation Agency, Delhi Police Commissioner and other senior officials.
In an interview with ANI, Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed significant details related to the blast and said that the blast took place in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic light. The blast took place at 7:00 PM on Monday near the Red Fort in Delhi and caused severe damage to lives and property.
Delhi Police nabs 4 in Paharganj, Daryaganj hotel raid
Delhi Police teams conducted a search operation overnight across hotels in Paharganj, Daryaganj and nearby areas to find the suspects. During the raids, search teams scanned CCTV footage of areas near the blast site and checked hotel records.
CCTV footage from Badarpur border, Sunheri Masjid parking area of Red Fort, Outer Ring Road, Kashmir Gate-Red Fort road was carefully examined. According to sources, the car in question had reportedly entered Delhi from Haryana via Badarpur.
According to sources, nearly 13 people are being questioned based on CCTV evidence.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Delhi, Raja Banthia, said, “Currently the investigation is on. We cannot comment conclusively on anything… FSL is clearing traces of the blasts… We are examining the crime scene,” ANI reported.
Earlier media reports suggested that there were three to four people in the i20 car that exploded on Monday, but according to Delhi Police sources, CCTV footage shows that the suspect was alone at the time.
“Investigators are now tracing the route towards Daryaganj while more than 100 CCTV clips, including footage from nearby toll booths, are being examined to ascertain the complete movement of the vehicle,” ANI quoted a source as saying.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has registered under various sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Explosives Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
In a post on X, Delhi Metro said: “Lal Qila metro station is closed for security reasons. All other stations are functioning as usual.”
