Pakistan batsman Sahibzada Farhan said he was unhappy with his record hundred against Sri Lanka after his team crashed out of the T20 World Cup 2026. The men in green defeated Sri Lanka by five runs in a thrilling Super 8 match on Saturday, February 28 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Despite their victory, they were knocked out of the tournament after failing to restrict Sri Lanka to 147 and then surpass New Zealand in net run rate. This saw the Blackcaps qualify for the semi-finals ahead of them. After Pakistan’s victory, Farhan was deservedly adjudged Man of the Match for his magnificent innings of 100 off 60 balls.

While receiving the Man of the Match award, Farhan expressed his disappointment at being eliminated from the tournament and stated that his hundred would have meant more if it had helped the team qualify.
“I wanted to do well for the team. I actually wanted Fakhar to get stronger. Tons of the team didn’t work, that’s why I’m sad. I felt good, it brings confidence. I knew I could hit what was in my arc. All credit to domestic cricket, it brought the habit of scoring at pace and scoring big after the match,” said Farchhan.
Farhan was involved in a record 176 runs for the first wicket with Fakhar Zaman (84 off 42). The right-handed batsman hit nine fours and five sixes in his battling innings to help his team to a stunning start. During his knock, he also broke Virat Kohli’s record of 319 runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
Farhan also became the first batsman to score two centuries in a single edition of the tournament and tied with Chris Gayle (2) for the most hundreds in T20 World Cup history. He finished the tournament with 383 runs from six innings at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25, with two hundreds and as many fifties to his credit.
