
The Minister of Higher Education emphasized the importance of reading for social development R. Binda started the state compliance with the week of reading organized by the Keral State Library on Thursday.
The Minister praised the Council as a unique and commendable movement that contributed significantly to Keral’s social, cultural and intellectual landscape.
“The Literacy Movement was the most culturally dynamic period in our history. This moment invites us to gain this spirit – reviving the energy and atmosphere of that time to inspire our youth and students to read and active civil engagement,” she said.
Reading Day is observed on June 19 in memory of PN Panicker, a visionary who promoted the message “Read and Growth, Think and Become Wise”.
The celebration will continue until July 7, the anniversary of the birth of IV DAS, key characters in the Keral Library Movement, with the aim of making reading and libraries available and focused on people throughout the state.
Kv Kunjikrishnan, president of the Keral State Library Council, chaired office. The writer and spokesman Ken Kunhahammed delivered the address of the key lecture on “Read Conflicts”.
Murali Perunelli, MLA, President of the Council of the District Library, added reading the day of reading, while a member of the TK council was honored to Panicker. Thudi Music-Dance Performance by Keral Kalamandalam added color to the event.
