Virat Kohli added another IPL record to his name on Sunday after completing 500 runs in IPL 2026 during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.With this milestone, Kohli recorded his ninth season with 500 or more runs in the IPL, the most by any batsman in the history of the tournament. Kohli now has 542 runs in IPL 2026 so far.David Warner and KL Rahul are next on the list with seven such seasons, while Shikhar Dhawan has five.Most 500 seasons in IPL:

Kohli also broke his own record for scoring the most runs against a single opponent in IPL history.Before Sunday, his best against an opponent was 1,174 runs against Chennai Super Kings. Kohli was dismissed on the last ball of the 15th over after scoring 58 off 37 balls. He was trapped by Yuzvendra Chahal.The former RCB skipper has once again been among the team’s top performers this season as Bengaluru continue their push for a playoff berth.Earlier, Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first against RCB.The match was also the 100th IPL game as captain for Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer.RCB entered the match at the top of the points table with eight wins from 12 matches.
