RCB vs GT: Shubman Gill of Gujarat Titans looks to use home advantage in IPL final

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill, on the verge of winning his first IPL title as captain, said he is not burdened by expectations and believes his team can benefit from playing the final at home against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday.

Both GT and defending champions RCB will be gunning for their second IPL crown when they clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gill acknowledged that knowing the conditions could work in Gujarat’s favour.

“Honestly, the burden of expectation is not on me too much. There are advantages when we play here because we know the wicket and the pitch. We know the kind of cricket we need to play to win here,” Gill said during the pre-final press conference.

“In that context, yes, I see it as an advantage because there is a bit of familiarity. If you win, it will be a great season. If not, it will still be a good season, but it will definitely be better if you win,” he added.
