A dispute arose after SLC refused to issue NOC to Thomaharciting his failure to meet the newly introduced mandatory fitness criteria for players participating in overseas T20 leagues.
SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said players must score at least 17 out of 29 points in five fitness parameters to qualify. Thesehara reportedly failed to meet this standard, leading to his IPL clearance being denied.
The matter has gained further attention as Thushara claims that his central contract with Sri Lanka Cricket expired on March 31 and that he had already informed the board of his decision not to renew it.
In his plea, the 31-year-old claimed that he was allowed to feature in previous seasons of the IPL and that his ban this time could cost him not only his place in the RCB squad but also significant earnings and future professional opportunities.
According to reports, Thenhara fears that RCB may seek compensation if the NOC issue remains unresolved.
RCB have made a great start to their IPL 2026 campaign and are currently second in the points table with two runs and an impressive net rate of +2.907.
They started their campaign and a convincing six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Rajat Patidar and his men will take on five-time champions Chennai Super Kings at the same venue on Sunday, April 5.
