Indian Premier League (IPL) Franchise Royal Challengers Bengalur (RCB) announced the financial assistance of the RS 25 lakh for the families of each of the 11 fans who lost their lives outside the M. Chinnaswama stadium, June 4, 2025.
The tragedy, which occurred during the RCB title in Bengalur, remains one of the darkest moments in urban sports history. Thousands of jubilant supporters gathered in front of the Chinnaswama stadium less than 24 hours after RCB won its first IPL title in the final of Kings Pandjab in the final in Ahmedabad. However, the celebrations turned into chaos when an uncontrolled increase in fans towards the gates at the stadium left 11 dead and more than 50 other injured.
Eighty -six days, RCB applied with a more significant package of compensation. In an emotional statement, the franchise acknowledged the size of the tragedy and expressed solidarity with mourning families.

“No amounts of support can ever fill the space they have left. But as the first step as the deepest RCB respect, RS 25 lakh has extended to their families. Not only as financial help, but as a promise of compassion, unity and continued care.”
“This is also the beginning of RCB old with: a long -term commitment to a meaningful action that begins with honor of their memory. Each step forward will reflect what fans feel, expect and deserve.”
The statement represents a significant increase in the initial announcement of RCB in June, when franchise promised Rs 10 lakh into surviving families and support for the injured by creating the RCB Cares fund. At that time, the critics accused the team more of a “control of damage” rather than real compassion, because he mounted public anger over the tragedy.
The Government of Karnataka directly crushed the RCB responsible for outages in the crowd management, while the Commission of Inquiry later considered the stadium as a hosting of the Chinnaswama stadium.
