Ravichandran Ashwin is ready to play the whole season Big Bash League with Sydney Thunder after left at the auction of the Ilt20 player. The 39-year-old Allrounder off-toping originally signed with Thunder on the January part of the tournament, but now committed himself to the whole season, including the finals, with at least three home games in Western Sydney and both Canberra.
Ashwin has already committed to participate in iLT20 auction but decided to pull out after he found no buyer For its basic price of $ 120,000. He explained that he wanted to resign from the auction, but he decided to continue because of his earlier commitment. He was not willing to reduce his basic price, which eventually resulted in his complete commitment to Sydney Thunder for the upcoming Big Bash League season.
“I was going to pull out a few days before the auction for Thunder Deal, but since I had already committed myself to Ilt20, I was going into the auction, I honored my word. But I disagreed with a reduction in my basic price,” Ashwin said.
After leaving the international cricket last December, the Az Premier Leag in August became the first player of the Indian men to appear in the Great Bash. BCCI limits the sucking of Indian crickets in playing in the overseas leagues, which means that only retirement players can participate.
Ashwin is set to debut In the season opening Big Bash match against Hurricanes in Hobart on 16 December, with his first home game at the Engie stadium during Sydney Smash 20 December.
Sydney chief Thunder Trent Copeland expressed his enthusiasm over Ashwin’s commitment. “Ashwin’s decision to play all season Big Bash League is another exciting moment for our club. It was no brain that would bring it to the whole tournament. This decision shows its commitment to our club and what we are trying to build.
Thunder retained several overseas players, including Sam Billings, and Ashwin joins Spinners colleagues Chris Green, Tanveer Sangha, Shadab Khan and Tom Andrews. Coach Trevor Bayliss will face a harsh selection decision by joining the New Zealand Pacer Lockie Ferguson to the team in January, because the club can build only three of its four overseas recruits.
BBL chief Alistair Dobson appreciated Ashwin’s decision and said, “Players around the world see a big bash league as a competition in which they want to play. Ashwin’s involvement will be a big part of our season.”
With his experience and skill, Ashwin’s signature provides enormous support for Sydney Thunder throughout the season because he is trying to question the title in the Great Bash League.
