
Goa’s Minister of Agriculture Ravi Naik died on Wednesday after cardiac arrest, the officials said.
Naik, a former main minister of the state, was 79. He died in his hometown, 30 km from Panaji, reported the press agency PTI.
Naik was reportedly treated at a private hospital in Ponda, where he was declared dead around 1:00.
The existing Goa Cm Pramod Sawant, who paid tribute to the former cm, said that the leadership of the Naik, humility and public benefit will always be remembered, will write: “Deeply saddled with the demise of our leader and Shri Minister Ravi Naik Ji.”

Glorious career
Naik was seven times (six times from the Ponda Assembly constituency and once from the Marcaim election district of the Assembly) as a party candidate, including Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Congress and BJP over the years.
The late 79 -year -old legislator was elected from the Ponda election district consistently in 1999, 2002, 2007 and 2017 on Congress tickets and in 2022 on the BJP ticket.
The double chief minister, Naik, took over the office for the first time from January 1991 to May 1993, which led the coalition government of the progressive democratic front. In 1994 it became the shortest serving km of the state, with its tenure lasted only six days from 2 to 8 April of the same year.
Naik was also a member of the Parliament of North Goa in 1998 as a candidate for Congress.
He was survived by his wife, two children, sister -in -law and three grandchildren. The latest Naika ceremonies are scheduled to be on Wednesday at 3 pm.
