Rasmus Hojlund has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving Manchester United this summer, despite ongoing speculation about his future.
The Danish striker, who has faced criticism recently, ended a 21-game goal drought to bring his season tally to just three goals in 24 Premier League appearances—a performance he admits falls short of expectations.
Manchester United are expected to pursue a new striker in the upcoming transfer window, and rumors have linked Hojlund with a potential move away. Reports suggest interest from Serie A clubs, with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen being mentioned in swap deal discussions.
However, Hojlund has no plans to end his time at United.
Speaking to reporters while on international duty, Hojlund said, “I’m focused on the project with Ruben [Amorim], which is incredibly exciting. Erik [ten Hag] was one of the reasons I joined Manchester United. He was a talented coach doing good things, but it didn’t work out, and that’s just how it is.”
“I’m still very happy to be at Manchester United. It’s the club I’ve always dreamed of playing for. I’m also really happy for Ruben—he’s a cool character and a great person.”
While Hojlund’s form has drawn criticism from some former United players, one ex-Red Devil has been praised for his support. Peter Schmeichel, the legendary Danish goalkeeper, was seen consoling Hojlund after United’s recent 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
“Peter helps me occasionally and listens to how I’m feeling—whether things are going well or badly,” Hojlund said of Schmeichel. “I wouldn’t call him a father figure, but he’s been through it before and knows what it means to play for Manchester United as a Dane. It’s great to have someone like him to talk to.”
