US rapper Offset has been released from hospital days after he was shot outside a Florida casino, marking a speedy recovery from what authorities described as a non-life-threatening incident.
The artist, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was treated after a shooting occurred earlier this week in the ballroom area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
He was initially taken to a hospital in stable condition and being closely monitored, according to a statement from his representatives and local authorities.
Officials said the incident occurred after an altercation outside the venue escalated into a shooting. Police responded quickly, secured the area and arrested two people as part of the investigation. Authorities also stressed that there was no ongoing threat to the public, although the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting continued.
While the exact motive behind the shooting remains unclear, reports suggest the rapper suffered a leg injury. Medical updates described the wounds as non-life-threatening, allowing for a relatively quick discharge from the hospital after a period of observation.
The episode attracted significant attention given Offset’s prominence in the global hip-hop scene. He became famous as a member of the chart-topping trio Migos, known for hits such as Bad and Boujee or MotorSport. He has also built a successful solo career in recent years and maintains a strong position in the music industry.
The incident also revived memories of past violence associated with the group. In 2022, another member of Migos Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston, an event that shocked the hip-hop community. Offset’s latest ordeal, while far less serious, has once again raised concerns about the safety of artists in public spaces.
Reports indicate that another rapper, Lil Tjay, was arrested in connection with the altercation leading up to the shooting, though not for the shooting itself. Attorneys have denied involvement in the shooting, and authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the person responsible.
Pictures and eyewitness accounts that emerged after the incident showed Offset in a wheelchair outside the hospital, appearing alert and interacting with those around him. His recovery has been closely watched by fans, many of whom expressed relief at the news of his improved condition.
The rapper’s release from the hospital signals a turnaround in what could have been a much more serious incident, even as investigators are still piecing together the events that led to the shooting.
