The founder of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) S. Ramadoss called on the state government on Saturday to immediately issue a notice and to start the process of adopting children from disadvantaged parts of private schools within 25% of the quota reserved under the Education Act (RTE) of 2009.
In his statement, he pointed out that the announcement should have been published. Government fees received in this category would be carried by the government. “Since the beginning of the summer holidays, it is condemnable that the notification according to the prescribed quota has to be published,” he said.
Under the RTE law, the announcement of acceptance for private schools is usually issued in March and the applications are collected in April. The selection process will be completed in May to ensure that the entire acceptance process will be completed until June, when schools usually reopen. “However, it is said that the government could decide to interrupt free education in private schools according to the RTE law. It is the responsibility of the Tamil government to solve and dispel these doubts,” Ramadoss.
Acceptance under the RTE quota in Kendriya Vidyalaya schools were completed two weeks ago. Likewise, the Tamil government should speed up the RTE acceptance process in private schools throughout the state. The government must immediately issue notifications and start receiving applications, he added.
