Members of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will meet at Mani Ramdas Chavni in Ayodhya on Monday (July 6, 2026) to discuss the preliminary report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the case of alleged misappropriation of donations to the Ram Temple and the resignation of its trustees.

The first on the five-point agenda of the meeting, which is scheduled for 3 pm, is to discuss the resignation of Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra. The two individuals, along with trustee Gopal Rao, have been at the center of controversy ever since news broke of the alleged embezzlement charge at the Ram Temple. The members of the trust are also likely to agree on the appointment of a managing director to oversee the management of the temple.

The meeting comes amid two parallel investigations into the allegations: one by the SIT, whose mandate has been extended, and the other by the local police based on a First Information Report (FIR). Both the SIT and the police collected statements from three senior officials of the Trust. So far, no FIR has been lodged against the three Trust officials. However, lawyers from the Faizabad Bar Association submitted a formal petition to the police seeking an FIR against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, Gopal Rao and one other person.

The SIT comprises Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Inspector General of Police (Lucknow Range) Kiran S. and Special Secretary in the Finance Department Neelratan Kumar. Eight individuals — Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu, Anukalp Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Karunesh Pandey, Manish Yadav, Lavkush Mishra, Ram Shankar Mishra and Subhash Srivastava — were arrested in connection with the alleged embezzlement of donation funds at the Ram Temple and produced before a local court on July 14.
