Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh and his Moroccan counterpart Abdelatif Loudyi, inaugurated Defense Defense Defense Defense Advanced Systems Limited (Tasl) in Berrechid in Morocco on Tuesday (September 23, 2025). This is the first such overseas plant of the Indian company.
The 20,000 square meters of equipment are produced by the indigenous developed Kolářská armored platform (WHAP) 8×8, which was designed together by Tasl and the Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DrDO).
According to the Ministry of Defense, it was a “historical moment” in India-Morocco ties.
Mr. Singh said the plant meant a new chapter in a strategic partnership and symbolized the power of the growing Indian defense industry. The initial whit of WHAP vehicles to the Royal Moroccan army will begin next month, with production starting three months before the plan. These are the largest production facilities for the defense of Morocco and the first such overseas plant of the Indian private company in Africa.
Modular platform
WHAP is a modular combat platform with advanced protection, mobility and adaptability. Configurations include infantry combat vehicle, armored carriers, survey, command post, mortar carrier and ambulance variants, with options for remote weapons and anti -tank missile systems, Mod.
Mr. Singh stressed that the Indian vision of Aatmanirbhara Bharat exceeds the self -confidence to “go with friends” and “to create the world”. He noted that the project would generate employment related to defense in Morocco, one third of the components came at the beginning and in the coming years increased to 50%.
He emphasized Morocco’s strategic placement as a gateway to Africa and Europe, making it an export center that deepens bilateral defense ties, strengthens local capacity and contributes to regional security.
The ceremony was attended by the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezmour, higher officials of both governments, royal armed forces and Tasl representatives.
