Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday (March 17, 2026) refuted the claims of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) general secretary (election campaign management) Aadhav Arjuna, who had recently said that the actor refrained from entering politics due to a threat from the DMK. “Time does not speak but waits and gives its answer,” said Mr. Rajinikanth.
During a protest organized by TVK in Chennai on March 12, Mr. Arjuna said, “The DMK family threatened Mr. Rajinikanth and ensured that he does not enter politics.”

In a statement, Mr. Rajinikanth said that Mr. Arjuna’s remarks were not true. The actor also thanked political leaders who condemned Mr Arjuna’s “defamatory comments” and extended their support to him (Rajinikanth), including AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan, Tamil Nadu Natural Resources Minister S Regupathy and Tamil Nadu BJP President Nahrana BJP
He also thanked the head of VCK Thol. Thirumavalavan, AIADMK leader SP Velumani, former BJP state president K. Annamalai, BJP leader and former associate of actor Arjunamoorthy, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, TMC (M) president GK Vasan, TMMK leader John Pandian and others.
On 3 December 2020, Mr. Rajinikanth announced his political entry. However, in a three-page statement later that month, he cited the COVID-19 pandemic and his health to leave without entering politics.
