Rajasthan heatwave horror: Two sisters, 5 and 8, die after being stuck in a locked car | Today’s news

Amid intense heat wave in Rajasthan, a tragic incident was reported from Alwar where two young sisters reportedly died of suffocation after they got stuck in a parked car while playing near their home, police said on Wednesday.

The victims, identified as Tina and Laxmi, were aged eight and five.

According to police officials, the incident took place in Khudanpuri village under the jurisdiction of Vaishali Nagar police station area.

The sisters allegedly entered a parked vehicle while playing

Police said the two children were playing near a car repair shop in the village when they allegedly entered the parked vehicle.

Investigators believe the girls accidentally locked themselves inside the car after getting into it. The children were unable to open the doors and escape and remained trapped inside the vehicle.

Officials said family members became concerned after the sisters went missing for an unusually long time and began searching for them with the help of local residents.

The girls were eventually found unconscious inside a parked car.

“The children were taken out immediately, but they had already died of suffocation,” officials said.

The probe is underway, the bodies have been moved to the mortuary

Gurudutt Saini, Station House Officer in the area, said the bodies were taken to the district hospital mortuary.

He added that the police have initiated the case.

Authorities are also investigating the circumstances under which the children were trapped in the vehicle and how long they were inside before they were discovered.

CCTV video surfaces online

A CCTV clip linked to the incident has also surfaced online.

The footage allegedly shows the two sisters approaching a parked car, opening its door and climbing in while playing.

Local media reports claimed that the children remained trapped in the vehicle for nearly 30 minutes before being found.

But the police did not officially confirm the exact time the girls were in the car.

The father raised his daughters alone

According to police and family members, the children’s father Ramesh originally belongs to Bedam area and lived with his daughters in a rented house in Khudanpuri village.

Ramesh reportedly told the police that his wife had died four years ago and since then he had been raising the two daughters alone.

Relatives informed investigators that the two sisters were the only emotional support for their father.

The incident caused shock and grief in the local community as residents gathered outside the family home after news of the deaths spread across the village.

Cases of children stuck in parked vehicles have repeatedly raised safety awareness concerns, especially during extreme summer temperatures when closed vehicles can quickly become dangerous.
