
20 people died after the fire absorbed the bus passengers from Jaisalmer from Rajasthan to Jodhpur.
The bus, which carried 57 passengers, left Jaisalmer around 15:00. Smoke began to emerge from the back on Jaisalmer-Jodhpur. The driver stopped the bus along the road, but during moments the flames absorbed the vehicle, PTI reported.
The locals and passers -by plunged into a place to help in the rescue effort. Fire offers and police were informed and passengers were injured to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer for treatment.
16 Critically injured passengers were transferred to the Jodhpur hospital.
Prima Facie, the fire seems to have broken due to a short circuit, the police said.
The Jaisalmer district administration said that after receiving information about the incident, it immediately began assistance and rescue.
The Pratap Singh district collector ordered officials to ensure immediate medical care of the injured. Help numbers were also issued.
The District Administration also issued an appeal to information about relatives of the victims to find out their identity. The bodies will be handed over to the family members after the match of DNA, the officials said.
After receiving information about the incident, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma got into Jaisalmer and the officers informed him.
CM later ended the loss of life on social media and said, “The incident of the bus that lit in Jaisalmer is extremely heartbreaking. I express deep condolences to those who are affected by this tragic accident.
“May Lord Shri Ram give a place on their divine legs for outgoing souls. The state government stands with affected families and is determined to provide them with all possible support,” he said.
The premiere office of Narendra Modi also expressed sadness, and PMO claims that ex-Gratia £2 Lakh will be given by PMNRF another relative of the deceased while the injured would be given £50,000 each.
Former CM Ashok Gehlot also ended the loss of life in the incident in a post on social media.
In his post in Hindi Gehlot said: “The loss of 20 lives in the fire on the bus passengers from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur is heartbreaking. The news of this tragedy is deeply worrying.”
“I pray to God to give instead of leaving the souls at the feet and for a quick recovery of the injured,” he said.
Governor Haribhau Bagade, BJP President Madan Rathhore and other leaders expressed sadness over a tragic incident.
