Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy alleged that the contractors were carrying out work only in constituencies belonging to ministers and the chief minister as they were billed only for work done there and questioned this discrimination against other MLAs.
Speaking about the grants in the assembly, he said that the Huzurnagar constituency, represented by Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, was getting a large number of lift irrigation systems. He sought to discover how government would exist if it neglected mutual legal relations. He suggested the government not to discriminate against MLAs. He stated that there was talk outside that every programme/plan would be linked to Khammam district as it is represented by three ministers.
Several MIM, Congress and BJP members who participated in the debate on the grant application vote highlighted the neglect of government schools in the state despite claims of improvement in infrastructure. Ahmed Bin Abdulla Balala and Mir Zulfeqar Ali (MIM), K. Venkata Ramana Reddy, P. Rakesh Reddy and A. Maheshwar Reddy (BJP), Beerla Ilaiah, T. Rammohan Reddy, Matta Ragamayee, K. Shankaraiah and B. Manohar Reddy also spoke on Sam’s demands.
Mr. Rajgopal Reddy said that there were over 300 government schools in his constituency but the total number of students in them was only about 9000. He praised the government for proposing integrated schools and suggested that one each mandal should be sanctioned against one in each constituency.
Mr. Venkata Ramana Reddy said that there is no fee regulation for private schools and mid-day meal with quality rice and breakfast will not improve the strength in government schools as it is mostly associated with basic infrastructure like proper buildings, furniture, toilets and others.
Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that SLBC will be completed by June 2028, Dindi in two years. Regarding depletion of water levels in the Krishna Basin reservoirs, he said the power department has been asked to stop hydel production in Srisailam and urged Andhra Pradesh to stop drawing water from the reservoir.
