Rain to continue in parts of India till October 15: IMD | Today’s news
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated heavy rainfall in several parts of the country over the coming days, while conditions are becoming favorable for further retreat of the Southwest Monsoon.
Several parts of India are likely to experience rainfall in the coming week, including northwest, central, east, northeast and south regions from October 9 to 15. While isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over most regions, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshadweep on certain days.
Rain activity is expected to continue over northwest India during the forecast period, according to the IMD. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad are likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall on 10-11. October and during 14-15 October Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall during October 10-15, while Uttarakhand may experience rain during October 10-15.
Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab are expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall during the forecast period. West Uttar Pradesh may experience rain during October 10-11, while East Uttar Pradesh is likely to be affected on October 10. West Rajasthan may witness rains on 10-11. October and 13-14 October while East Rajasthan is likely to see rain on 10-11. October
Precipitation in the region
In central India, isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by isolated thunder and lightning is likely over eastern Madhya Pradesh on 10 October. Chhattisgarh may receive rainfall during 12th-15th. October
Over East India, Odisha is expected to experience isolated to scattered rainfall during October 10-15. Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal may see rain on October 10, another spell over Gangetic West Bengal likely on October 14-15. October Bihar is likely to witness rainfall during October 10-11 and again on October 15. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may witness rainfall on October 10-11.
Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience moderate to widespread rainfall on October 10, followed by isolated to scattered rainfall on October 11 to 15. Assam and Meghalaya may experience rain during 10-11. October and 13-15 October Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall during the forecast period.
In South India, Kerala and Mahe are likely to experience moderate to extensive rainfall during the 10th-15th. October Lakshadweep may experience widespread rainfall on 10 October followed by isolated to scattered rainfall during 11-15. October The forecast indicates continued precipitation activity in several regions, with intensity and distribution varying by location and date.
Withdrawal of monsoon
Meanwhile, the IMD said conditions are becoming favorable for further withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from some other parts of East India and Southern Peninsula and many parts of Northeast India during the next 3-4 days.
Withdrawal of the southwest monsoon usually begins in western Rajasthan in September, gradually progresses over northwest and central India, and then moves towards the southern peninsula and eastern regions.
