The heavy rain lashing Kerala for the past few days is likely to continue for two more days, fueled by active monsoon conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday (June 8, 2026) issued an orange alert for Kasaragod, Kannur and Kozhikode districts where very heavy rainfall is expected in the next 24 hours, while the rest of Kerala is under a yellow alert warning of isolated heavy rainfall.

A red alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Kasaragod, Kannur and Kozhikode districts on Tuesday (June 9), where extremely heavy rainfall is likely during the forecast period, while an orange alert has been issued for Malappuram and Wayanad districts.

The rest of Kerala was on yellow alert for the day, except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha districts.
