Rain forecast prompts Telangana ministers to issue precautionary measures guidelines

The red alert for several districts of Telangana for Thursday (July 30, 2026) and the weather forecast for the next two days have prompted ministers to issue instructions on the measures to be taken.

India Meteorological Department – ​​Hyderabad Center has declared five northern areas under red alert for Thursday, indicating that very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by strong surface wind (40-50 kmph) is very likely at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Jagtial districts.

Adilabad, Nirmal and Nizamabad were forecast to receive heavy rainfall on Friday (July 31, 2026). Strong surface winds up to (30-40 km/h) are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets in all districts.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, in a meeting with the revenue and disaster management departments, took precautionary measures near watercourses, lakes and other water bodies. People in vulnerable areas must be warned. If necessary, they must be transferred to rehabilitation centers.

The minister has directed officials to ensure that there is no disruption to electricity, water or traffic flow in Hyderabad – which is also experiencing continuous rain of varying intensity. Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Traffic and other concerned departments must work together to avoid traffic problems.

IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu also held an emergency video conference with MLAs, Collector and senior officials to take stock of the ground situation in Peddapalli district. He issued instructions to implement flood relief and rehabilitation measures on war footing in Godavarikhani, Peddapalli and Singareni coal belt where continuous heavy rains inundated several residential colonies in the last two days.
