Reservation graphs for trains departing in the early morning hours will now be prepared at night before, the Railway Council was introduced in a circular released on Wednesday (July 2, 2025).
“The zonal railways have been warned that the first reservation charts of all trains departing in the early morning hours – situated from the original stations until 0900 hours, or as the Zonal Railway decided – the previous 2100 hours should be prepared the previous night,” Krukový said.
However, the second graph can continue to be prepared according to the current instructions for maximizing current reservations, the Council clarified. The Directive was issued to all main commercial managers Zonal Railways.
According to a circle, for trains that are scheduled for departure between 05:00 and 14:00, the first reservation graph will be best prepared by 21:00 the previous day. For trains departing between 14:00 and 23:59 hours and those scheduled between 00:00 and 05:00 hours, mapping will best be done eight hours in advance.
“These instructions also relate to mapping in remote places,” said Puneen Kumar, director (personal marketing and coordination) in circulation.
Hind said earlier that the Union’s Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw agreed to progress in the preparation of reservation charts by eight hours and ordered the Board of Directors to make changes in the phases to avoid disturbance.
“This step will reduce the uncertainty for passengers with tickets for waiting lists. Passengers will receive the first update of the waiting list status well in advance,” the head of the railway official said. “It will benefit passengers from distant places or suburbs of main cities for long distance trains. It will also provide more time to carry out alternative measures if the ticket is not confirmed,” the official added.
