
The team from the Railway Council conducted discussions with the main secretary A. Jayathilak in Thiruvananthapurama on Tuesday to explore the ways of the Sabari Rail project.
Official sources said the delegation, which included another member of the Rajesh Agarwal Railway Council, the Chief Administrative Director of OM Prakash and Keral Rail Development Corporation (KRDC) Ajith Kumar, organized negotiations on the organization of cost sharing and obtaining land for the project. The next round of meetings will be held soon to explore these aspects in detail
While the state government expressed only a conditional willingness to share the cost of the project, the railways continue to insist on the 50:50 cost model. He also asked the state to carry part of the expenditure already established. In addition, the state is expected to complete the land acquisition to Erumla. The railways agreed to start construction as soon as it achieved.
The 110 km Angamaly-Reurmely route was first announced in the railway budget for 1997-98. So far, the soil has been obtained for 8 km and the construction was completed for 7 km of the section between Angamala and Kalady.
