Raidurgam Police Book 35 Social Media Accounts For Promoting Bike Stunts And Racing, 5 Offenders Arrested
Five people have been arrested by the Raidurgam police during a special enforcement drive against dangerous bike stunts and illegal racing in Hyderabad’s IT corridor, particularly in and around the T-Hub area, following an increase in incidents involving reckless riding and promotion of such activities on social media.
Cases were registered, vehicles impounded and accused brought to court in accordance with the law. As part of the raid, police also identified 35 social media accounts involved in promoting cycling stunts and races.
According to the police, several riders were performing stunts and racing, causing inconvenience and concern for the safety of commuters. Police said some people recorded and uploaded videos of the acts on social media platforms, encouraging others to engage in similar activities.
Police said those involved in stunt riding, illegal racing and related activities can face prosecution under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, the Motor Vehicles Act and the Information Technology Act, depending on the nature of the offence.
Police also urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and warned young riders not to chase social media fame with dangerous stunts. Police also appealed to residents, RWAs and commuters to report cases of stunt riding and illegal racing through Dial 100, Cyberabad Police Line or the nearest police station.
