Despite the government’s claim that the Great Nicobar Island development project is being carried out with “due care and careful consideration”, the Congress on Sunday said the government has failed to address concerns related to the project. She also called for a parliamentary review of the project.
Congress General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh claimed the government, shaken by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s “hugely impressive” visit, issued a clarification three days later in an effort to do “damage control”.
