Rahul Gandhi’s dal-roti par charcha with drivers in Delhi focuses on ‘inflation, rising gas prices’: WATCH | Today’s news
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have time and again met various sections of the society to listen and understand their concerns. This time he met car drivers to hear about the challenges they face in their daily lives.
On Friday, Gandhi met autorickshaw drivers at Todarmal Park in Delhi’s Bengali Market. He was seen wearing an auto driver’s uniform and taking selfies with the children after the interaction.
Gandhi also shared food with the drivers and talked to them about their livelihood, rising costs and children’s education.
“We communicated with Rahul Gandhi ji and told him that our business is running very slowly. He asked about my children’s education and how we manage our daily earnings and food. Rahul Gandhi ji and I shared a simple meal of dal, roti and vegetables,” auto driver Ramesh Prasad told PTI.
Another driver, Arinder Kumar Shah, said: “We talked about the burden of inflation, especially the rising gas prices, which make it incredibly difficult to survive.”
According to the drivers, Rahul Gandhi promised them that he would raise their concerns “directly in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament”.
“Rahul Gandhi promised her support to the drivers and said that she would raise our grievances directly in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament. We all had roti and aloo ki sabzi (potato dish) in Bihar style,” said Ravinder Kumar Shah.
“Rahul Gandhi unexpectedly met us while we were eating and it was a good feeling,” another auto driver who met Rahul Gandhi told ANI.
In the past, Rahul Gandhi has tried to connect with sections of society to understand their grievances.
In 2023, Gandhi met concert workers and delivery partners Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit etc. at the iconic Airlines Hotel in Bengaluru.
“…he got an insight into the lives of these young people, why they took up these jobs and what their working conditions were like,” Gandhi said after engaging in an interesting conversation with concert workers.
The Congress leader also rode a scooter for about 2 km to reach his hotel in Bengaluru.
In 2025, Rahul Gandhi shared his experience of visiting a Keventers store and making cold coffee. He spoke to Keventers co-founders Aman Arora and Agastya Dalmia about their business and expansion plans.
In the 9-minute clip, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha was heard talking about his “investment decision” and the future of the Indian milkshake brand.
