
Congress Head of Rahul Gandhi wrote Narendra Modim on Thursday and demanded that the government should provide a specific, generous and immediate relief and rehabilitation package for POONCH and other areas affected by Pakistan’s shelling.
Last Saturday he visited the leader of the opposition at Lok Sabha Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir and spent time with disabled people, including families who lost their members during cross -border attacks from 7 and 10 May.
Gandhi also visited the snipe hit Gurdware Singh Sabha, Temple Geeta Bhawan and Madrassa Zia-Aul-Aulom, in addition to interacting with students at High School.
Gandhi said in his letter to Modi that he recently visited Poonch, where 14 people, including 4 children, tragically lost their lives and dozens were injured in Pakistan’s shelling.
“This sudden and indispensable attack caused massive destruction in civilian areas. Hundreds of houses, shops, schools and religious places were seriously damaged. Many victims said their years of hard work was destroyed by one stroke,” he wrote.
People Poonch and other border areas have lived in peace and harmony for decades.
“Today, when they are undergoing this deep crisis, it is our duty to understand their pain and provide all possible assistance in the reconstruction of their lives. I call on the Indian government to come up with a firm and generous relief and rehabilitation package for Poonch and all other areas affected by Pakistani shelling.
Gandhi shared a video of the visit and said on X: “Poonch pain can only be felt after leaving. Broken houses, broken lives – even iz echoes of this pain comes out only one voice – we Indians are one.”
“I do not ask, but I remind the government of its responsibility – a specific, generous and immediate relief and rehabilitation package should be prepared for Poonch and other areas influenced by Pakistani shelling. This is not help, it is a duty,” Gandhi said in his post in Hindi on X.
In the video, many people affected by shelling were seen as they share their experience with Gandhi.
Gandhi said on Saturday that the border district in Jammu and Kashmir embodies “Harmony, Unity and Patriotism of Hindustan” and those who seek to divide the country will never succeed in their design.
Poonch faced the onslaught of Pakistan’s shelling, leaving 28 people dead and 70 injured.
This was the second visit to Gandhi in the Union from a terrorist attack from Dastardly 22 April Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists.
Gandhi also visited Srinagar 25 April to meet those injured in the attack. He met Governor Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and several stakeholders.
