Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will inaugurate the ‘Maha Panchayat’ program organized by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) at Marine Drive here on January 19 to felicitate the party’s candidates who won the recent local polls.
Around 14,000 party representatives will participate, including 7,848 who won the local body elections, Mohammed Shiyas, president of the Ernakulam District Congress Committee, said on Saturday (January 17, 2026). Senior party leaders and officials will also attend the event scheduled for 2 pm. The program will mark the start of the party’s campaign ahead of the upcoming parliamentary polls, he said.
Mr Gandhi will present the Priyader of Literary Award from Priyadershine by Publications under KPCC to critic M Leelvathiim on Monday (January 19, 2026) during his visit to the city. The function will be held in ms. Leelvathe’s Residence in Thrikkakara. KPC President Sunny Joseph and Leader of Opposition VD Sathesan will attend.
