Rahul Gandhi will address students in Chennai today

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President Manickam Tagore on Friday said that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will address various issues related to students at the Island Grounds in Chennai on Saturday evening.

According to Mr. Tagore, 10,000 to 20,000 students who have registered and received a QR code will participate in the event.

Mr. Gandhi will also meet Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at his residence.

“Our leader will address issues related to Tamil Nadu students like national entrance test, lack of jobs, education for girls and women and the education policy of the Union government. It will be an interactive session. Even though protests are going on in New Delhi, he (Mr Gandhi) is coming to Chennai because he has further agreed to it,” the TNCC president further said.

Poll results

On the poll results, Mr. Tagore said the AIADMK’s support base could soon shift to TVK. “In 25 years, this is the first by-poll that has been held without money being distributed to voters,” he said.

“It is possible that the AIADMK support base could shift to TVK due to the Chief Minister’s rule in the last four months,” he said.

DMK leader MK Stalin also criticized the repeated use of the word “treason”. “I welcome the results. It is a victory for TVK and its coalition government. He (Mr. Vijay) has brought a significant change,” he said.
