Congress and opposition leader at Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi noted that democratic policy has undergone a major change in the world in the last decade and emphasized the need for a new type of leadership. He also repeated the importance of policy based on love and empathy, rather than hatred and fear.

He said that disagreements about politics are normal, he said: “While their lens is anger, hatred and fear, our lens must be love, affection and deep listening. I believe this summit will help build the ideas we need for a new kind of policy in India and in the world.”
